I’m a firm believer in the saying that “where there is a will, there is a way.” I like to think I’ve often exemplified that saying – after all, I do admit to having a stubborn streak. But I have found a little lady that is more stubborn than myself. And I have found a task that, no matter what the will, there is rarely a way. And that is…photographing a toddler.
I have not tried anything more painstakingly difficult than getting in-focus photos (is that asking for too much?) of a moving – and I mean constantly moving – toddler. Please take the experience that I’m painting in your head and then multiply that by 10. Then you may come close to understanding my frustration, unless of course you have experienced this yourself in which case you must impart your wisdom.
Anyhoo, last weekend we went to one of the prettiest campuses in Nashville to take photos of the bug. And, not coincidentally, exactly one year ago from that day we also took photos of a much smaller bug at the same location. I feel a yearly tradition coming on. Out of the hundreds of photos taken, we only got a handful worth sharing and an even smaller amount that are frame-worthy by photography standards, but I’m okay with that. What we did take away was a fun family outing and images that capture the spunk and spirit of our little girl.
At day school she is known as “speedy gonzales,” a nickname she has rightfully earned. But boy, I sure love toddlerhood. And more so, I sure love this little girl.
She has changed so much in just a year.
